rainy day blues

I totally forgot about ole Beryl and didn't even look out the window before deciding on what to wear; I ended up wading through the rain, but I still loved wearing my new coral J. Crew pants. Kinda made the dreary day a little brighter, ya know? Still on the search for the perfect red pair... and every other color.

concrete jungle...?

On Saturday, I am heading to New York City for the FIRST TIME with one of my favorite families, Stewart clan. I have babysat Connor and Braxton for years, and they are my little sweeties! Sometimes I pretend they are my own... I am so excited to spend the week with them, roaming around NYC, a place I know without a shadow of a doubt I will absolutely love to the point of never returning home. My two boys are full of energy on a normal day, so I can't wait to see how wired they will become when we walk into FAO Schwarz and the like (I assume we will be going there).

Apart from allowing you to marvel in the absolute adorableness of my two sweet babies, I am trying to pack!! So much anxiety over packing the right things. Since I've never been, I am at a loss. Is it hot? I know hot, and I can handle hot. What shoes? I refuse to wear tennis shoes... at least I say that now. Should I pack them anyway? I'd like to run while I'm there just to say I have. What purse should I carry? I am going to HAVE to be totally 100% comfortable so I can chase after my boys! Here is what I have gathered so far:

1: Michael Kors 2: Target 3: ASOS 4: Michael Kors 5: Gap (Mine is from H&M)

Pretty sad list, right? Any suggestions from experienced jet-setters would be greatly appreciated!

split second snapshots

Busy, as usual. We literally had eighteen people staying in our house this past weekend for my little sister's graduation. Air mattresses were abundant. Needless to say, it was a mad/fun house, filled with heated tennis matches, homemade ice cream, and the typical graduation torrential downpour. I loved it. Here are some mini moments from the past week or so...

Payton and Elijah: Payton's bike, Elijah's toys
Elijah giving Payton (aka "Bubba" haha) a "squeeze hug"

Inside: Georgia Tech friendly, navy blue Longchamp, equipped with yellow monogram

ADORABLE baby tie made by my awesome sister-in-law. Visit her etsy shop here!

H&M polka dot blouse, necklaces via Max and Chloe and Encore

Double rainbow over my sister's graduation... we were about to start building an ark

Playing with prisms; I had to force Payton

mary (poppins): in my bag

My assignments are sparse today at work, so I decided to take a second to reveal the contents of my most recent purchase, a Michael Kors bag large enough to fit a newborn baby. I love it. I decided I needed a large bag since ALL of the ones I own are lucky to fit a regular wallet plus lipgloss and my future travel plans have found me coveting a classy carry-all. This one I found on sale and it has not left my side since its acquisition. It will be a real jetsetter by the end of the summer.

*Michael Kors bag (similar here)
*MAC Studio Finish concealer
*EOS lip balm in "Summer Fruit" (Lemon Drop is my absolute fave!)
*Lancome Color Design lipstick in "Love It" (I stole this straight out of my sisters makeup bag. It is the PERFECT pale pink. I am not a huge lipstick wearer but I haven't taken it off since I thieved it)
*MAC lipstick in "Sophisto" (My first lipstick love...)
*H&M "Cherry Lips" lipgloss
*H&M gold pouch
*Michael Kors wallet (Each color has an adorable contrasting inside! Mine is brown!)
*RayBan Aviators
*Banana Republic (old), John Wind, Frosted Willow bracelets

good, bad, ugly

I am way behind on the times, but I wanted to add my "two cents" on the outfits worn to the Costume Institute Gala, aka The Met, just like every other fashion-obessed girl out there. Some got it SO right and some got it even more wrong. So here it is, the moment you all anxiously wait for daily, my opinion! I'm sure you never tire of hearing it.

Yes, Please

Kate Bosworth in Prada: I think I am mainly just smitten with her absolutely flawless makeup. Her lipstick is to die for. And I love that her hair is so sleek; it really, really allows you to focus on her gorgeous, newborn-esque skin. And her legs are BANGIN.
Debra Messing in Kauffman Franco: Sequins are almost over-played at this point, but this dress looks amazing on Debra Messing. I love, love, love the deep v-neck, and the color is perfect with her coloring. I may sound like my mom shopping for my little ginger sister, but it's true. No one looks better than a red-head in the right colors. I almost wish she would have skipped the necklace; that neckline is pretty enough without it.

Emma Stone in Lanvin: I swear this girl could wear a paper bag and look adorable. But this Lanvin dress is NO paper bag. Emma Stone really never ceases to amaze me. She is so fun and flirty and girly.... I think I am borderline in love with her. Red is such a great color on her... and I love her matching red lip. I love bold lipsticks..... I wish I could pull them off.
Emma Roberts in Escada: Maybe I am still coming down from the high of my sister's recent accomplishments (see here), but I just love this Georgia Tech colored dress. It is just perfect. I love her hair and the minimal jewelry and the sweetheart neckline. I just love sweetheart necklines. This is the epitome of the "less-is-more" mentality.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier: Clearly I am having a bold color moment, since pretty much all the dresses I picked are concentrated hues of the brightest variety. I love Ginnifer Goodwin's orange gown. It is so flattering to her figure and interesting without being overdone. I am really not a fan of her hair being so short and her heels being so shiny.....
Diane Kruger in Prada: I think this may be my favorite look from the entire night. Diane Kruger has taken effortless to a whole. nothaaaa. level. Doesn't it look like she just threw on this dress and went? And she still looks AMAZING. It is boho and classy and flattering and fun all at the same time. I would wear this dress so fast. I am just in love.

Rachel Zoe in her own design: Let's just go ahead and address the first (and only) issue. That necklace is too much. It belongs with some sort of tunic on the beach; I was confused. But my love for RZ, our mutal love for Starbucks, and my trust in her fashion sense will allow me to look beyond it. Her fringed dress is rivaling Diane Kruger for my number one spot. She just looks gorgeous. She looks so dainty and beautiful. I love the bare shoulders and the nude clutch. RZ never disappoints.
Rhianna in Tom Ford: Edge + Class = Rhianna ... As usual, the edgiest maiden of them all is in a slithery, slinky snakeskin dress that I just adore. Only Rhianna could pull this look off. I am so glad I didn't find her in an over-the-top, silly ensemble like I expected. She has still kept her funky style, yet she has toned it down to the point of sleek class. Good job, Ri-Ri. PS: Do you think this dress is waterproof?

Never Again

Chloe Sevigny in MiuMiu: HUH? I feel like she just fell off the set of Austin Powers. Why can I see her undergarments? Even her hair is bad... It looks so 90s? And her shoes look like Jack Sparrow and Michael Jackson's shoe-lovechild. I am just very dumbfounded. I think that dress used to be a beaded curtain that I had going into my bedroom at age 9.
Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte: Okay, I appreciate her effort. This really isn't that terrible, but it is inappropriate for this event to me. I feel like she has overdone it, going with entirely too many vintage-inspired elements. From her hair, to the belt, to the watch, to the dress/suit/jacket thing, it's just too much. She has lost her femininity somewhere under that stiff garb. I just imagined this dress without the belt and buttons and suit like jacket bottom thing, and she would've looked amazing. Keep the color, the neckline, and the sleeves and I think she would've looked so much better.

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga: Once again, Kristen Stewart disgusts me. Not only should she be banned from all movie sets, but her stylist should be banned right along with her. Never have I ever looked at a picture of Kristen Stewart and said "wow, she looks great." I usually say something along the lines of "wow, she looks uncomfortable and miserable and stupid. She's trying too hard to make some sort of statement; it isn't working" I said that this time, too. And Mary Poppins called; she wants her shoes back.

Wait, What?

Brit Marling and Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino; Rashida Jones in Tory Burch:
Apparently lots of girls got the floral memo. Don't you think these three dresses are entirely too similar? Do you think Sarah Jessica Parker and Brit Marling made awkward eye contact and thought "Oh crap, we're twins"? Don't get me wrong, I am loving the sweet Valentino numbers. Rashida Jones, not so much, but it's not unbearable. Anyway, I just wanted to point out the flower triplets.
